Genuine Friendship on the Journey of Mission
YLG (Younger Leaders Gathering) is part of the Lausanne Movement, one of the world's largest mission network.
The goal of Japan YLG2024 is to initiate a trasformation in the leadership "culture," by connecting diverse younger leaders who are serving in Japan mission, mutually seeking humility in Christ, and building genuine friendships that will lay a foundation for mission collaboration.
Speakers
Rieko Ando
Born in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Graduated from the Department of Ethics, University of Tokyo. Served in IFES Campus ministry (KGK) for 20 years. Master of Arts in Theology, University of Aberdeen. President of Tamagawa Seigakuin since 2013.
Doug Birdsall
Doug Birdsall served as the Chair of the Lausanne Movement and for Cape Town 2010. Doug and his wife, Jeanine began their missionary service in Japan in 1980 with Asian Access where they served for 27 years They currently live in the Boston area near Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he served as the founding director of the J Christy Wilson Centre for World Missions. The Birdsalls have three married children and five grandchildren who live in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Vanvouver, B.C.
Kisung Yoo
Pastor Kisung Yoo is the founder of With Jesus Ministry, a ministry that encourages Christians to be aware of and obedient to living Christ within them. His message focuses on two major themes. One is unification with Jesus Christ, based on the scripture Galatians 2:20, 'I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.' The other theme is living with Christ, based on John 15:4, 'Remain in me, as I also remain in you.'
He retired from his role as Senior Pastor of Good Shepherd Methodist Church in South Korea after serving over 40 years as the senior pastor in three churches. He currently serves as the Chair of the Korean preparatory committee for Seoul 2024, the Fourth Lausanne Congress. He has been married to Rebecca for over 40 years and resides in Yongin, South Korea.
